RULE on SD and MMC:
all SD compatible devices are SD and MMC compatible:)
all MMC only compatible devices are NOT SD compatible:)
therefore MMC cards will work with ALL SD and MMC devices!
********************
what this means?
for me...MMC is better than SD!
now some will argure...im sure:)
SD is faster... i think not really in todays standards...also if you consider most handheld devices specially smartphones doesnt feature super high speed writes and read speeds anyways! for me, you really cant tell the speed difference specially on cellphone usage (maybe in cameras:)... NOW with this new developement na MMC with a maximum read speed of 22.5 Mbit/s and a write speed greater of 18Mbit/s, no SD advocate can say MMCs are slow poke
read on...

some would say SD is more durable...
not really...i have mmc thats 5 years old and still running:) its water resistant and shock resistant too:)
Both MMC and SD cards use metal connector contacts, instead of the traditional pins-and-plugs, so they aren't as prone to damage during handling. They are both also rated 2,000Gs shock tolerance...F1 race car drivers experience about 10Gs when thier car crashes to a wall at top speed...but in memory card world that equates to about a 10FEET drop and survive:) HDD and micro drives have tolerance of about a foot drop...
it has writeprotect feature...
now realy...is there real use for this?? hehehe...i think not...(everytime you take a picture you get an error coz it cant write)
copyright feature...
this acutally takes out several 100KB of user space from the SD so less can be used by the user...
MMC are designed to operate at lower voltage; thus mobile devices will have longer battery life
SD are more expensive too...
just trying to open up the mind...
no violent reactions please:) hehe:)

OK, Nokia 3620 is off the list as SD-compatible. Here's an email response from Nokia USA on the question "Does the Nokia 3620 support SD cards?"
Quote:
Thank you for e-mailing Nokia's Contact Center.
We apologize for the delay in responding to your e-mail message and appreciate your patience. We appreciate your inquiry about support for SD (Secure Digital) cards, and we would like to provide you with the following information:
Nokia mobile devices support the use of standard MMCs (MultiMediaCards) only. If you attempt to use a Secure Digital card with the Nokia phone, the card will not fit properly into the slot designed to hold a standard MMC. Also, even if the SD card did fit into the slot provided the Nokia phone would not recognize the card correctly.
Nokia has tested the Nokia 3620 camera phone with maximum size MMC of 128 KB. Therefore, if you plan to use a bigger MMC you will want to make certain the Nokia 3620 phone recognizes it before purchasing the MMC. For more information on Nokia MMCs designed for use with your the Nokia 3620 phone please visit our web site,
www.nokiausa.com.

Thank you for choosing Nokia for your mobile needs.
